Do we shoot? Do we not shoot? The weather forecast stinks! Let’s just do it. Let’s not do it.
That was us on the phone 30 minutes before we were supposed to shoot.
I was in Chicago for the weekend and we had only one day to make it happen. We decided to just go for it and Someone must have been looking out for us as the rain held out for most of the shoot 🙂
I had so much fun with these two and am crazy excited to photograph their wedding next year in Chicago!
Chicago makes a pretty nice backdrop, eh?
Um, yes, they are beautiful people 🙂
Quick switch of locations, annnnnnnd, it started to rain. And rain it did. Like, torrential downpour rain. Thanks to my friends, Kristin Wilkerson and Bachi Frost, for the inspiration for the two shots below.
Luckily, we had an amazing apartment overlooking the city to slip into a take a few last shots…

As if it wasnt already obvious…..you’re freeecken awesome. 🙂
LOVE the pics in the rain!! So great!!
These are incredible. When you take a shot like the one with the blurred walkway leading to the couple — do you KNOW while you’re taking it that you are going to crop most of their heads out — and do that in camera — or do you leave their heads in the frame and make that final cropping decision in post? The rain shots and the indoor shots with the light of Chicago in the background are gorgeous — and so intimate.
Jean…LOVE this shoot as always…but WOW, the rain/umbrella photos, WOW! AMAZING!
Jenn…haha…I took the image exactly as you see it. If you haven’t noticed, I don’t have a problem cropping people’s heads 🙂 Every once in a while, I don’t know if I’ll like the cropped version, so I’ll take a cropped version and immediately follow it with a “safe” version. I try not to do too much head and limb cropping as it can get obnoxious 🙂
Did you stick your flash in the umbrella??? Genius! So pretty!
