a photographer’s lament

i am a photographer. i am also a mother. a mother of three boys where a huge reason for becoming a photographer was so that i could have fabulous shots of my boys. well, someone forgot to tell me that becoming a photographer would actually have an adverse effect on the “fabulous shots of my kids” theory.

apparently, mommy is just mommy, whether she has a camera and claims she is a photographer or not.

so, more often than not, this is what i might get…

but, after all of the weird armpit noises that only boys do, a few treats, a couple of shoves to big brother, and a bathroom break, i just might get something like this, and i am a happy mom. it’s not perfect, but it is our life. our imperfect, wonderfully happy life. and that’s what i want to remember.

and my little one? he’s not hard to please…he’s just happy to be along for the ride…

so, what is the conclusion to all of this? mostly that i just love my kids. and i love my job.

Jean your post was beautifully written and the pictures aren’t to shabby either ;). I love how they show your boys being themselves…and that is something to treasure. 30yrs from now you’ll be trying to remember what they were like(because they say that the memory is the first thing to go or is it the waistline..anyway) All you’ll have to do is pull out you’re beautiful pictures of your boys just being boys and the memories of their sweet childhood will come rushing back. Love them.
The one of Isaac is my fave. Precious.
